FLAGSHIP ETAM HAUSSMANN
Retail, architect
Paris
France
All projects on this page are the property of MVRDV.
I worked for a few weeks on the Etam Flagship Store, by the end of my contract with the office.
I helped finalize the construction permits, proposed facade details, and designed furniture which in the end was scrapped from the project. Sometimes it happens. I don’t think it undermines the work that was made. You learn from every project you work on.

LA SERRE
Housing, architect
Issy-les-Moulineaux
France
I worked for a few weeks on this housing project. I mostly provided help to update plans and sections when the project evolved. Big architecture firms often work like this - few teams in the same unit work on different projects simultaneously, and people switch from one project to another in time of need.
This building is now under construction.

BASTIDE NIEL MASTERPLAN
Masterplan, architect
Bordeaux
France
I worked for a few weeks on this fascinating urban project in Bordeaux.
It took a fair amount of reading and studying plans and sections, to see the extraordinary number of pragmatic rules that were applied to define the strange volumes of the neighborhood.
On that project as well, my role was that of an additional help, in between other projects, and updating documents between different iterations of the design. Many of these buildings are currently under construction, and I am looking forward to visit the neighborhood in a few years.

CONFIDENTIAL PROJECTS
The notion of confidentiality in architecture offices
Various
I chose to show you the few projects above, because they are the only ones I can show.
Most of the projects I worked on at MVRDV are still confidential today. It’s quite normal and actually is the case for the other offices I worked for. The amount of projects architecture offices design is usually considerably higher than what they publish, making it one of the most frustrating industries in the world. Yet, the ideas developped for cancelled or confidential projects often migrate and reemerge a few years later, in new buildings.
My time at the Dutch office was extremely interesting for me and I regret not being able to show you more. Here are some very blurry images of projects I hope to show you someday.
